people you should know… Lyndon Wade edition

Monday, February 9th, 2009

Lyndon Wade is a Photographer, much in the style of David Lachapelle – whilst I’m sure everyone is tired of being compared to him, it is slightly unavoidable if you produce vibrant commercial work – and he’s definitely someone everyone should know of. The images I feature here are from the series ‘A Year in Room 107′  and naturally you’ll understand my predilection for work based within a small room set, given my work to date…

I love the exuberant colours and the humour, crispness and use of lighting and something which is more evident in other works is his use of photoshop to really make an image pop and punch you in the face. That’s what I love, I think photography should grab you and these images reach right out of the frame and take a hold of your collar with threatening eyes…

The narrative aspect of this series really appeals to me as well, the idea of what can happen in one space being so varied and opposing over a period of time – obviously its overly dramatic and unreal, not to mention its just a lot of fun… but then thats what’s important right, if your not having fun what’s the fucking point.

You can see more of his work at his website.

He is also represented by Marge Casey + Associates.  Incidentally that agency represents some very interesting photographic talent, worth checking out.

(Hopefully this will be a regular thing that I keep up… provided I can find enough interesting ‘People you should know’…)

brln & New Blog…

Thursday, February 5th, 2009

So…. I’M BACK!! This is the new blog, pretty much the old blog just minus all the previous posts that were lost in the “big avahost explosion of ’08″, the main casualty of which – my full website – is still being fixed… But it’s been moved from intensive care and I’m told its well on its way to being released into the wild once again. I imagine this space will change as I get to grips with it again and try to work out what the hell it is I want to do with it, who knows I might even share some crap…

Anyway, thats the initial overwith, the second part is some images – after all I do CLAIM to be a photographer – taken nearly a year ago now…

These images best describe my experience of Berlin I think, part of it anyway… Another big part is lost forever in the moment…

These images make me feel like Berlin time again, there are still a lot left on the negatives that I never got time to scan when I had access to decent scanning tech, maybe one time down the line I’ll rediscover them and have some nostalgic surge of creativity… maybe.
